Second Wind

Hi All,

Well we are nearly a quarter of the way into the second half of the school year. So far so good in gym class at Holmes!


This school year is nearing its end! The girls and boys here at Holmes have once again rose to every physical, spiritual, mental and emotional challenge I have put before them. I am so proud of the many students that come before each school year.
We have just concluded our Gymnastic Unit. I definitely saw growth and development in a lot of the students as far balance and coordination were concerned. As a reward for their steadfast willingness to improve physical, spiritual, mental and emotional, I will be play randomly selected recreational games of their choosing with them.

The next exciting event coming up will be our Annual Holmes Staff vs. Student Basketball game. This is an in school event. Spectators are not permitted to attend this event. However. I welcome as many of you as possible to mark your calendars for Saturday, April 22, 2017 for the Annual Holmes Staff vs. Parent basketball fundraiser game to be played at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School. Game start time will be @ 7pm; Doors open at 6:15pm. Hope you will attend.

Happy New Year!! 2017

 

Welcome Back!!! Happy New Year!!! We are ready to spring into getting back in shape after two long weeks

of resting and celebrating. We will be getting back 3-5 jogging our mile and K-2 half mile before participating

in our game activities. We are gearing up for FUN RUN 2017. Gymnastic Unit begin in February. Contact me, dwilliams@op97.org

WELCOME BACK!!! WE ARE OFF TO THE RACES HERE AT HOLMES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL HERE IN OAK PARK, IL.

WHEN IT COMES TO THE PRACTICE OF GOOD HEALTH AND FITNESS, NO ONE DOES IT BETTER THAN HOLMES.

OUR GYM PROGRAM IS ONE OF THE FINEST IN THIS COUNTRY. WE KICKED OFF CONDITIONING WEEK ON TUESDAY AND WILL ZIP RIGHT INTO FITNESS WEEK ON THIS COMING MONDAY.

WE ARE BACK AND LOOKING FORWARD TO LIVING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES ON PURPOSE, WITH PURPOSE!

GYMNASTICS COMES TO HOLMES

The Holmes Physical Education Department will host our District 97 Gymnastic Unit here at Holmes on February 1, 2016. The activity will last for the entire month of February. Photos to come.

Hello All,

This years Turkey Trot will be on Monday, November 2, 2015. Holmes has had nearly 100% student participation for over a decade. The boys and girls this school year are already primed for another awesome turkey trot event.

As always, I would like to thank Ms. Margaret O' Malley, Ms. Laura Hunnewell, Holmes PTO and all future volunteers for their efforts and support of our Holmes Turkey Trot.

International Walk To School Day 2015

               INTERNATIONAL WALK TO SCHOOL DAY

Wednesday, October 7, 2015 is International Walk to School Day. Student throughout the United States will be walking to school. Here at Holmes we do walking school buses. Students, teachers and parents come together creating both large and small walking school buses. Parents and /or Teachers position themselves at the front and rear of the walking buses, while all walking student participants gather in the middle of the walking buses. Students can also lead the walking buses.

Upon entering the school, student walkers also receive an IWALK hand stamp, indicating their participation in the walk to school event. So, parents and teachers mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 7, 2015.
